Effective Date: August 21, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how Super Binz Liquidation Inc. ("Super Binz," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit superbinz.ca, shop in our Calgary stores, contact us, or participate in our League of Savers membership program. It also explains your choices and rights.
We are a private‑sector organization located in Alberta and we handle personal information in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable (e.g., interprovincial/international activities), Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
By using our services, providing personal information, or joining League of Savers, you agree to this Policy.
1) Information We Collect
A. Identification & Contact: Name, phone number, email address, postal code. Proof of purchase details for returns (order number, date, payment method) but not full card numbers.
B. League of Savers (Membership) Data: Membership status (Free or Paid), unique identifier (your phone number), enrollment date. Program metrics: Hero Points (HP) earned, HP expiry dates, Tier status (Hero, SuperHero, Elite SuperHero) and Tier history, and purchase totals used to operate the program (not full line‑item detail unless needed to correct an error). Communications preferences and consent records (e.g., email/SMS opt‑in, unsubscribe timestamps). Optional Leaderboard display name ("Hero Name" or first name + initial) if you opt in.
C. Transaction & In‑Store Services: Items purchased/returned (for defect verification and 14‑day electronics return policy), date/time, subtotal, discounts applied, staff interactions (support tickets).
D. Website & Digital Interactions: Cookies/technical data: IP address, device/browser, pages viewed, time on page, referrer/UTM. Analytics/ads technologies (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta, TikTok pixels) used to understand site use and measure advertising performance.
E. Sources: Directly from you (in‑store or online forms, checkout, support). Automatically through your device/browser when you use our site. From service providers that support our operations (payments, POS/CRM, messaging, analytics), and from our related brands (Super Binz, Super Dealz, Super Savingz, Super Auctionz, Super Bidz).
2) How We Use Personal Information (Purposes)
We use personal information to:
A. Provide our retail services, process payments, fulfill returns and warranty checks.
B. Operate League of Savers (allocate HP on a daily basis, track Tier status, apply benefits, handle disputes, and display Leaderboard only if you opt in).
C. Communicate with you about receipts, program operation, policy updates, and support (transactional communications).
D. Send marketing messages only with implied or expressed consent (see Section 3).
E. Maintain safety, prevent fraud, ensure the integrity of our programs, and comply with laws.
F. Analyze and improve our store, website, and promotions.
We do not sell personal information.
3) Marketing Consent Choices (CASL):
A. Free Membership: You provide implied or express consent to receive commercial electronic messages (CEMs) by email/SMS/phone about Super Binz and related brands products, events, and League of Savers. Every message identifies us and includes an easy unsubscribe. You may withdraw consent at any time.
B. Paid Membership ($50/year): You do not receive marketing messages. We still send transactional notices (e.g., receipts, program or policy updates) as needed.
C. Records: We maintain time‑stamped records of consent, updates, and unsubscribe actions.
You can change your preferences or unsubscribe at any time. Withdrawing consent may affect your membership benefits.
4) Leaderboard & Public Recognition (Opt‑In): If you opt in, we may display your Hero Name or first name + initial on in‑store Leaderboards or similar recognition (e.g., Top HP earners). You can opt out at any time; opting out removes your name from future displays.
5) Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising: We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site and understand performance. Some tools (e.g., Google, Youtube, Meta, TikTok) help us measure advertising effectiveness.
Your choices: You can control cookies in your browser settings and opt out of many interest‑based ads through platform controls. If you block cookies, some features may not work.
6) Sharing Personal Information: We share personal information only as needed for the purposes described below:
A. Service providers/partners that process data on our behalf (payments, POS/CRM, email/SMS delivery, customer support, analytics/ads). We require appropriate safeguards and limit use to our instructions.
B. Related brands: Brands that are owned (in whole or in part) or operated by us, including Super Dealz Liquidation, Super Auctionz Liquidation, SuperSavingz.ca to administer shared benefits/support or to send cross‑brand marketing and offers. You can opt out of related brand marketing at any time.
C. Legal/regulatory and safety needs (e.g., to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect rights, investigate fraud).
D. Business transfers (e.g., merger or asset sale), in which case we will continue to protect your information and provide notice of any material changes.
We do not allow third parties to use your information for their own marketing without your consent.
7) Cross‑Border Transfers: Some service providers may store or access personal information outside Alberta, including in the United States. As a result, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
8) Retention: We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes set out in this Policy or as required by law.
Membership profile & consent records: while your account is active and for 2 years after closure.
HP/Tier history: 24 months after HP expiry to support audits and dispute resolution.
Transaction records: 6 years from the end of the fiscal year to meet tax obligations.
We then securely delete or anonymize data unless a longer period is required by law.
9) Security: We apply safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including:
Encryption in transit (where supported by our providers).
Multi‑factor authentication for administrative access, least‑privilege permissions, and periodic access reviews.
Secure configuration, staff training, and vendor due diligence.
Incident response procedures including breach assessment and mitigation.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work continuously to improve our controls.
10) Breach Notification: If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will assess and notify the appropriate privacy regulator(s) and affected individuals as required by law (including Alberta’s OIPC under PIPA and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada under PIPEDA). We document all breaches and mitigation steps.
11) Your Rights & Choices: Subject to limited exceptions, you may:
- Access and correct your personal information.
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time (unsubscribe links or contact us).
- Request deletion of certain information (e.g., membership profile) where retention is not legally required, recognizing that deletion may end your membership benefits.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14.
12) Children & Eligibility: Our store is family‑friendly, but League of Savers membership is available to individuals aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
13) Which Law Applies: For activities occurring wholly within Alberta, our processing is governed by Alberta PIPA. For interprovincial/international activities or cross‑border disclosures, PIPEDA may also apply.
